Nearly five years have elapsed since I last posted on this blog, during which life has been filled up by running (a now closed) business, and building and moving into a new house in Christchurch. I’ve often thought of coming back to post something, but other things have demanded attention – until now! Having more time for photography has been one of the major benefits of the move to Christchurch, along with living closer to the magical landscapes of the Southern Alps and West Coast.
My photographic interests have also received a major boost from returning to the use of a technical camera – a recently aquired Arca-Swiss F-Universalis (shown below – click to enlarge) that provides very similar functionality to the Linhoff Technika V that I used to shoot with in the 1980s. However, while the Linhoff used 4×5 inch cut film, the F-Universalis is smaller and can be ordered with a rear mount that allows direct attachment of my Fujifilm GFX 50SII, which then functions as a digital back.
